- Which
wines would pair nicely with scallops?
- What is a fortified wine?
- What is Chablis?
- What is the order for tasting wine?
- Which wines are typically sweet wines?
By
the time you complete the first year of the WineBrix
program, you will be able to answer these questions
and many more.
Should
you momentarily forget something (we’re all getting
older), just go to your wine reference book—the
one where you’ve been keeping your monthly newsletters.

First and foremost, the Big MYSTERY Test in month
12 is all in good fun. It involves two bottles of
wine and some friendly competition.
You will receive two wines, but
you will not know what they are. It will be up
to you and your companions to determine the
grape varietal of each. You will be doing a type
of blind tasting. |
|
And
the best thing about this blind tasting is
you will have prepared for it. |
 |
|
In month one with WineBrix, we will
send you two sheets titled "WineBrix Steps for Wine
Tasting."
As
you taste your wines, you will go through the tasting
sheets marking your reaction to the wines. You
will address the look, swirl, smell and taste of
each.
Some may want to skip the tasting sheets but, based
on our experience, we recommend using them because
our accuracy in blind tastings is significantly
higher when we use tasting sheets than when we
don’t; yours may be, too.
At the same time, you should do what is fun for you.
You may want to try them in month one, and if you like them, continue
using them each month. If they are not for you, just wing the test. It’s all good fun.
