In each of the first eight
issues with WineBrix, the focus is on the grape
varietials. Although all
varietals are compelling, the purpose is to compare and
contrast a single varietal. That way you can note
similarities—how both wines have specific varietal
traits. At the same time, you can experience how
certain factors, such as style, winemaker technique,
and region, work to distinguish one wine from
another.

Building Up
In
issues nine through eleven, the newsletter focus shifts slightly—to style and
topic rather than varietal and topic—and it requires the knowledge
you have gained from the first eight months with
WineBrix.

The
Test
Finally, in issue 12, you will use
your "Winebrix
Steps for Tasting" sheets in
a blind tasting to determine what varietals are
in the Mystery Wine bottles!!

There are literally hundreds of wine
varietals for people to sample. We've chosen the
first eight below
because six of them are core varietals* in the
wine world, two of them are gaining recognition,
and all are the "brix" for building
wine knowledge.
Each
Issue
is devoted to comparing
and contrasting two wines that are of the same
grape varietal but do not taste the same.
